I think alot of the reason Holden labels people as phonies is because he doesn't to try and connect with them, he doesn't want to even try and put himself out there for the world, so giving the name phonies to people give him a cover.
His phonies radar goes off big time with Sally after spending only half hour with her, at first he was totally head over heels and just wanted to move away only with her, his lust fell short soon after he talk with a guy she knew. Holden once again didnt want to keep trying after he got annoyed and just left it at she's too much of a phonie and that's when his bad side got the best of him. Also I've notice Holden always leaves people on bad notes, with Stradlater, Sally,Old school mates, His old Teachers ect, they all have this bad idea about Holden now.
But as long as Holden thinks everyone else are phonies, i think he is just as much a phonie too.

say, mean, better?!
""Did you ever get fed up?" I said. " I mean did you ever get scared that everything was going to go lousy unless you did something? I mean do you like school, and all that stuff?""
I think in this paragraph Holden is really trying to find another way to relate to this girl, he's looking beyond the outside figures and surfaced comments and trying to look deep down and find if there is anyone hope that anyone else feels like he does. Almost trying to show that he cant be that much different then everyone else if other people are feeling how he does. I believe this is very important for Holden because unlike other people he has had sit down conversations with, he is really trying to look for a real connection, a real like person who's not all phonie.

Connecting
Connecting is a way of relation towards something, but when you really think about it, it's harder said then done. We say that we are being honest and really reaching out but think to yourself.. are you really putting all of you out there for the world to see, for the world to judge and for the world to beat down. I think most of us if not all aren't putting ourselves out there 100%, i think most people including me, can't take the uncertainty. Time after time we are too scared to say how we really feel or let someone in, and thats what we are told to do with this book. we are suppose to open up to our class mates and friends and relate to them through the book and even the world. Taking it even smaller relating to yourself, finding your way and truly feeling like you have found the best meaning to the book.
At first and still even know this is a really hard thing for me to do, like i don't want to just go around posting all my thoughts and feeling around the internet, but i think back and the only reason i don't to, don't want to put myself out there is because of what people would say, imaging all the hurtful comments and helpless thoughts, i don't want to be the main attraction when people blog, but then i think again and think why should it matter how everyone thinks i am, think what you want because you going to weather or not you have my approval or not. So yes, i am kinda out there and crazy but thats okay, now i see it doesn't matter, and thats were im connecting more with people and Holden. Everyone wants to say that they don't care what people think and they want to mean it, and now you can know that im trying to mean it, im gunna do the best i can to mean it, and Holden should too, he needs to learn this process and now everyone who reads this will have in there head.

Struggles
I believe that Holden is a very switch sides type of person, on one side he has everything in control and he know everything he wants to do, like leaving when he wanted to, calling up the Lady that his friend gave her number too. He has a sense of power even thought you cant see it sometimes. and that's when the other side shows up, the scared and powerless mind of hurt, where this little boy is crying out for someone, something to help him and no one is there for him, either because he wont let anyone in or because no one wants to.
I also think that this could just be from the age he is at, being a teenager out in some high class school, were no one really is your friend, no one really cares to call you by your first name and being cramped with homework, i think Holden just couldn't take the life of a teenager so that's were he wanted to break free and be an adult.

Childhood vs.Adulthood
In Holden point of view it's very hard to see where he stands in childhood or adulthood, could be be standing on a very thick line and not know it? Well to me he is standing on that line because the way he presents himself and talks to adults is adulty, he makes himself feel very much older then he his, but on the other side of the line i can see where he is still a child struggling to find a way out. Holden's childhood to me is like a big door and he can close it most anytime he wants but always on the other side of the door there is still a child there waiting for it to open, But i think this is a way for most people to look at it, and hes just like everyone else in this sense.

C.R 2
When i started this book i thought it was really boring and i didn't think that it would get any better but reading father into it, i think it gets better, i like that i can actually connect with some of it even though it from so long ago.
I hope it goes farther talking about Holden and Jane relationship because that seems like a very interesting subject :p

The Catcher In The Rye
I feel empathy for Holden because he's not a bad guy, or havent really done anything wrong he just hasn't applied himself, he does not see the point in it and thats were i simpathize with him because i know what that feels like to just not want to try, haha because i dont like doing homework :p
